“Poppy Playtime” is a new indie game that has caught the attention of many people in the gaming  industry. 91 percent of 5,653 people have very positive reviews on Steam.

The overall story of the game revolves around the company Playtime Co., which is known for making toys for young children. The game starts with showing the player an advertisement for a doll named Poppy. Poppy is a doll created in 1960. She has the ability to properly converse with a child and is programmed to talk and communicate like a real little girl.

In the advertisement, Poppy is described as always wanting to look her best, wanting people to shine her shoes and is also said to smell like a poppy flower. At the end of the advertisement is where the story really starts to shine through due to Poppy saying “I’m a real girl, just like you.” 

Your role as the player is that you are an ex-employee of Playtime. Co., returning many years later after everybody within disappeared.

A main thing I dislike about the game is that if you don’t know what you’re getting into right off the bat, then the game might be a little confusing. The game itself is also very quick. It being the first chapter there are a lot of holes in the story, causing even more confusion for some people. At the same time there is a want of the second chapter. Overall I do really like the sound design and how the music in the beginning really increases the spooky aspect of the game.

In my opinion Poppy Playtime is a very interesting and eye-catching game that many people have taken interest in. The game’s atmosphere is fun to explore and experience while playing. I think the game is a 9/10 mainly because of the puzzles and horror aspect to the game, as well as the story.
