Is Cobra Kai Better Than The Original Karate Kid?

As most of us should know Cobra Kai is a spin off from the Karate Kid movies. Cobra Kai came out May 2nd , 2018, the most recent season came out December 31st, 2021.

The Karate Kid was told from Daniel LaRussos’ viewpoint. Cobra Kai isn’t all about Daniel LaRusso, Cobra Kai is mainly Johnny Lawerences perspective. Johnny Lawerence is a more complex character than LaRusso. In Cobra Kai, Johnny had bad flashbacks from his childhood about his abusive stepfather. We got to learn more about Johnny and how he isn’t a bad person like most of us have thought.

Season 1: Johnny was basically about to hit rock bottom, but then he saved this kid Miguel from bullies at his school. Which led Johnny to reopen Cobra Kai. When Johnny reopened Cobra Kai the rivalry with Daniel LaRusso reignited. That began the series. I would give season one a 7.5/10.

Season 2: With the rivalry between Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawerence, Daniel decided to recruit students and reopen Miyagi-Do. There is tension between the students at each dojo. This season has more action and drama. It also left a huge cliffhanger. I would give season two a 8/10.

Season 3: This season had a lot of ups and downs. It moved pretty slowly. The last couple of episodes got better and more interesting. Kreese became controlling over the students and practically brainwashed most of them. Johnny left Cobra Kai once again and started another dojo. I would give season three a 7/10.

Season 4: Johnny and Daniel try to put aside their differences to better the students. They combined the dojo’s to try and take down kreese. There are definitely more fights that go on in this season as well. I would give season four a 8/10.
