Meet South’s Newest Library Staff

Addilynn Schons

Students and staff who have visited the library recently may have seen a new face behind the circulation desk. Logan Lochlan started working at South in early January and has been a great addition since then.

Lochlan has a master’s degree in library science and said that in the future they want to go back to school for a PhD. They originally moved to Fargo in December of 2021 and applied for a job at South soon after.

Lochlan was interviewed and accepted the job before winter break. They said they enjoyed the look of our library as well as the overall kind environment.

Even though they have only worked here for a month, their favorite part about their job is being able to build relationships. Another goal of Lochlan’s work is to do research with libraries and attempt to make them more welcoming for everyone.

Lochlan said they also want to become more familiar with technology. The reason for this is that they want to be able to help students and staff with smaller technology issues to take a little load off of the tech support specialist, Cory Allen.

With working with many books, Lochlan said their favorite is an old classic: Frankenstein.

“Because if you haven’t actually read Frankenstein then it’s likely that you have a misconception of what the book is about,” Lochlan said. Overall some other things they are interested in are crafts, killer sandwich sudokus, jigsaw puzzles and programming and coding.

Our newest addition to South’s library staff is an amazing contribution to the overall environment of the library. Lochlan is an incredibly talented person who is helpful to everyone in need of it. Next time you are in the library don’t be afraid to say hello to Lochlan and give them a warm welcome to South.
