Interview of a Student’s Business

Dani Puterbaugh

A few weeks ago I heard of a business called Elliotsspelljars (which can be found by searching that on Instagram), owned by a student that opened back up. Here is how the interview went.

Q: What made you decided to start a business?

A: Part of it was going into witch craft was expensive and I don’t have a job. It then morphed into me realizing a lot of what I sell I actually use myself. So I sell for those who can’t make them and aren’t witches.

Q: How much time did you put into this?

A: To start, the order form and website took about 2 hours. Updating the photos took 1 1/2 hours. The photos took a while to take and the products take an hour to make. Cleanup does take awhile as well. The longest part is charging them since I have to leave them in the moonlight.

Q: When did you open back up?

A: About the beginning of April is when I reopened.

Q: How many orders have you gotten in total?

A: Eight, it has been a little slow.

Q: How do you get people to know about your business?

A: Mostly word of mouth, discord Bio and customers sharing about it. I also have a friend promoting on their website.

Q: How much money have you gotten?

A: About $35. Each jar is about $2-2.50 to make, earrings cost more. I sell one for $5 and three for $10.

Q: What got you into witchcraft?

A: Good question! I started a year ago, after the end of last year. I was always interested in it since it ties into nature.

Q: Have you thought of expanding your business?

A: Yeah, I’d like to have an Etsy.
