Candy Corn is NOT the Worst Halloween Candy

Anya Hawari

Candy corn is not the worst candy. Some people say it’s disgusting because it tastes like wax, it’s flavorless, or it’s just sugary. However, candy corn, believe it or not, has 28 grams of sugar. Candy corn isn’t a candy that has strong flavor or no flavor. Its flavor is mild; it’s not too sweet. Most responses to the poll said that it tastes like wax, but I believe that the texture is wax rather the flavor.

Candy corn is perfect for everything, especially for a nice Halloween night. It is a unique candy with its triangle shape and its vibrant colors. Not only is this candy fun to eat, but also, you can use them as decorations by stacking them to look like a corn on a cob. There is also a candy corn pumpkin. Candy corn pumpkins’ flavor is marshmallow. Candy corn and candy corn pumpkins are the same.

Candy corn also has a interesting history: it wasn’t originally called “Candy corn”, but instead named “Chicken feed”. The boxes were illustrated with a colorful rooster logo and a tagline that said: “Something worth crowing for”.  Candy corn was originally made 1898. The reason why it is associated with Halloween is because candy corn and other treats were manufactured from May to November, so the timing of the candy corn harvest ties it to Halloween.

This candy has a long shelf life. Once you open it, it can last up for six months, and if unopened it can last up to nine months. With all these reasons, it’s hard to see candy corn as the worst Halloween candy.
