Face-Off: Spotify Music

Genevieve Gard

The most controversial topic within our country is obvious- Apple Music or Spotify? The answer lies in the cold hard facts.

I have been a Spotify user since 2017, but I just recently upgraded to Spotify Premium in May of this year. One of the biggest differences between the two streaming platforms is that Spotify offers podcasts and eBooks. This is a huge advantage that allows access to more resources, and Apple Music doesn’t have this. There are also podcasts that are exclusive to Spotify, therefore, Spotify users are never left out of the loop.

Another difference between Apple Music and Spotify, is that Spotify cost an entire dollar less per month. Apple music is $10.99/month and Spotify is $9.99/month. Spotify also offers a premium student account, premium duo account, and premium family account options. Spotify’s family plan offers up to six accounts per family, while apple music only offers up to five. Spotify’s premium student plan is also a dollar cheaper, which most broke college students would appreciate. These financial aspects are important to take into account, considering the fact that Spotify also had more to offer at a much lower price.

It has been argued by many that Spotify’s layout is cleaner and more easily accessible than Apple Music. This is an aspect that is important to many people when they are perfecting their playlists and looking for new music. Lastly, every year, Spotify creates a summary of each users listening habits that past year. This summary includes your top artists, top songs, minutes listened, and much more. It’s called “Spotify Wrapped” and it is always super exciting to share your own and see your friends’. The choice is easy and the answer is clear: Spotify is the superior streaming service.
