South’s New SWFF Advisor: Brittney Engelhard

Joey Smith

Brittney Engelhard is our new SWFF advisor here at South. SWFF stands for “Student Wellness Family Facilitator”, another name for a social worker. Engelhard helps students who are struggling in school while working with families to help with needs outside of school such as; food, shelter, and anything else they may need.

A few things about Engelhard are, her preferred name is Brittney. She is originally from Bismark but moved to Moorhead with her husband and five children two summers ago. She loves going to concerts; the most recent one she saw was The Lumineers.

Before coming to South she worked in Early Childhood Special Education. She enjoys working with teenagers because of the sarcasm and real conversations with them. The main thing she wants students to know is that she is always willing to listen without judgment. Engelhard is very strength-based and will always try to find the positive in negative situations. She will do her best to help and guide students in any way she can.

If you need to speak to Engelhard about anything, she is in Room C31 in the counseling office. She doesn’t have a set schedule so check the sign in sheet to see her availability.
