What are five words you would use to describe yourself?
“Considerate, kind, detail-oriented, lifelong-learner, introspective.”
How do you motivate your students?
“Finding ways to make the content meaningful by making connections to the real-world.”
What made you want to be a social studies teacher?
“I was a psychology major in college, and really enjoyed the material. However, I didn’t really know what I’d do with a psychology degree because I didn’t want to be a counselor/therapist. I’ve always loved school and learning, so I thought teaching would be a good fit.”
If money was no object, what would you have in your classroom and why?
“An assistant to help me with lesson preparation, teaching, grading, etc. There’s always too much to do! Also, windows and skylights for some natural light in my room.”
Where is the coolest place you have visited and why?
“Last summer, my husband and I went to Iceland. We spent a week driving the ring road that goes around the whole island. The landscape is so varied and breathtaking – from rugged and desolate volcanic fields to lush green valleys cut by glaciers to sweeping mountain vistas with cascading waterfalls. Each day on the ring road was more beautiful than the last.”
