The album Memoir of a Sparklemuffin by Suki Waterhouse was released on September 13th. The alternative/folk record is her second LP since the launch of her music career in 2022. I have been of fan of Waterhouse since 2021 and her music has always had a very unique feel in the music industry.
The production of the album was very high quality and you could tell a lot of thought went into it with all the drums, guitars and different melodies. Waterhouse uses many different styles in the songs and some are upbeat while others are sad, however they all mesh together perfectly and create one vibe. Most songs have a build-up where the verses are calm and then the bridge will crescendo into a loud, dramatic feeling. The songs “To Get You,” “Model, Actress, Whatever,” “Big Love,” and “Gateway Drug” all display this same pattern of being dramatic and showing that desperate feeling in the bridge. The album as a whole has a very dramatic and nostalgic feeling that depicts the life of a teenager and is very carefree and unique but also has sides where’s its calmer and more soothing. I would give the album a rating of about an 8.5 of 10. My overall review is you are looking for new artists to listen to and like unique vibrant music that fits many different genres and vibes, then you should take a listen to this album.
