Are you looking for a new, welcoming after-school activity? You might want to think about joining the technical theatre group for South High’s productions! It is open to everyone at any point in the year, and there are no hour requirements to be a part of construction, as you can just go to help whenever you want. the official time to work is after school, though. It’s a really fun group to be apart of, and you should join because the set isn’t going to make itself.

To give you a taste of some responsibilities of each show, the group begins by constructing the set out of planks of wood. Painting everything is the next step, and then they finish it off with some final touches. There’s more to tech than building, though. Running the shows needs work backstage, working the spotlights, stage managing, and working the sound and light booths. It’s safe to say there’s a place for everyone!

This year, they have a large group of members, allowing this year to be the perfect time to join, as there are extra hands to help new people out! And when you get more technical experience, more leadership roles will be available during shows, which can potentially look great on a job or college application. As a whole, tech is filled with many activities and opens the door for dozens of shows and events year-round.
