Adjusting to a new semester can be challenging, especially for freshmen. Some take the change well, because they’re relieved to put their work from the first half of the year behind them. However, many feel that they’d only just gotten used to how high school works versus middle school, and that shifts in a schedule is throwing them off. Feeling distracted by these changes is normal, but a new set of classes is a fresh start.
Semester 2 may feel daunting, but it’s a chance to improve your grades. Your fail in chemistry isn’t locked in by forgotten homework anymore, because that’s behind you. You can lessen the long-term impact of a bad semester 1 grade by doing what you need to do now, guilt-free. You now have a better understanding of what most of your classes are asking of you, and that understanding forms a basis for your new classes.
This is also a great time to join a new club. Many other students are using this transition time to build new habits and branch out more, so you will not be the only one. If you’re bored and lonely at home on your PC at 4:00 every afternoon, I would really recommend joining a new activity. If you don’t know what to join, you can ask your friends or a teacher for suggestions, or else check previous club introductory articles on the Sudhian website.
As a whole, feeling intimidated by the new semester is very understandable, but this is a time for growth and starting fresh. Plus, this means we are halfway to summer!
