Disney’s Moana 2 was released on November 27, 2024 as the sequel in the Moana franchise. Here are my views on the movie.
Moana 2 has a wholesome story and has even better animation. The visuals were just beyond and the songs they put in were beautiful. However, I wish the creators added some new adversity: it seems like she faces the same challenges she did in the first movie. The film’s theme of being connected, to yourself and to others, results in Moana gaining more and more self confidence. She also learned to not do everything alone and to value teamwork.
In the film, Moana was first called by previous wayfinders to break a curse, so the people of the ocean could reconnect. They unfortunately couldn’t do this without her, so it became Moana’s responsibility to break the curse. For Moana to break the curse, she had to find an island called Motu Fetu, which is hidden underneath the ocean and guarded by a powerful and villainous god named Nalo. Moana voyages with three other islanders, and encounters new and old friends on the way.
Moana 2 is an entertaining movie with a good plot and a great ending. The movie has been a massive success. It has earned $1.053.4 billion domestically and internationally. Moana 2 is rated 3.5/5. The weaknesses of this movie are similar to those of Moana 1, that is why fans were disappointed when watching. It seems as though creators focused on their animation and not on the script. However, I would still recommend watching this movie. The sequel adds a lot to the story, despite certain elements being a little too repetitive.
