With the school year wrapping up soon, some students may be experiencing some anxiety. Everyone’s trying to cram final pieces of homework in and maintain good grades, and seniors are trying to balance post-grad plans. A good handful of seniors don’t even have a plan for their days after high school, whether it be going to college, or working, while many still don’t know what to do. They might think they need to know right away. The truth is a lot of seniors don’t know, and that’s normal: college isn’t necessary for a fulfilled life, and it’s okay to take your time to make these big decisions. It’s fine to take a small break after high school to figure out what you want to do, even if that’s working immediately and not going to college: a “gap year” can be extremely beneficial in the long run. While a college degree can boost a career, it isn’t required for many jobs. The only thing you must do right now for any path is to be responsible with getting your work turned in. You can decide your path after high school once you have your present taken care of. To maintain good grades, you can make sure everything is turned in, and if you’re struggling, ask for help or attend our school’s tutoring program during one of your off periods. It’s always okay to ask for help when you don’t understand something.
