FCCLA is an exciting and fun after-school club. It stands for Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America. Students are able to cook, bake, and craft. Many different forms of craft that is. There’s things like crochet, embroidery, sewing, and more. Students are able to choose whatever they want. This club is led by Miss McCleary. It’s been going on for a long time, about 30 years now. FCCLA is once a month, meetings are typically in the first two weeks of the month. Any students can join; you aren’t required to be in a FACS class to join this club.
There are a few competitions for this club each year. In the fall, is always a “district 6 meeting.” In April, there is a competition in Bismarck. Nationals is in July, it will be held in Orlando, Florida in 2025. For the past few meetings, students have participated in a holiday gift exchange, a karaoke party, and a game night. The next meeting, students are doing s’more baking. At the end of the school year, there will be an ice cream sundae party.
“FCCLA is a chance for students to learn basic life skills, such as cooking, baking and sewing. It seems as though some students might not have the time to take FACS so this is a great opportunity.” Said South High student Willson Rai. FCCLA is recommended to anyone who wants to be in a welcoming environment doing enjoyable activities.
