Taste Test: Starbucks Holiday Drinks

Sarah Wahl

Starbucks currently has holiday-flavored drinks being sold at stores. These flavors have been seasonal for many years, but some people don’t want to try new things and mess up their coffee for the day. As a barista, here’s my expert analysis of these drinks.

Dark Chocolate Mocha with Peppermint – This Christmassy drink has a rich chocolatey flavor, very sweet, with not too much espresso. The peppermint in this drink made it feel super wintery, and it paired really well with the chocolate. I would give this drink a 3.5/5 because I’m not a very sweet coffee drinker but it is still super good to have once in a while.

Chestnut Praline – Nice nutty flavor mixed in with a sort of caramel hint. The espresso in this drink is easier to taste compared to the Dark Peppermint Mocha, and this drink also isn’t as sweet. I would rate this drink a 4.5/5 because it is very good in my opinion but not my favorite coffee drink.

Caramel Brûlée – This drink has a very sweet caramel flavor and really tasty. This is most definitely my favorite. If you are a caramel fan, this is definitely right up your alley. I would give this drink a 6/5 rating. I will be buying again. I am a big fan of the more rich caramel taste.
