Over this past month, your very own Fargo South Theatre has managed to bring many kids’ imagination to life by presenting “Seussical the Musical!” On December 11th, 12th, 13th, and 14th, the Cat in the Hat -Reid Jensen- lead us through a world of Horton Hears a who -Kipling Olson- Green Eggs and Ham, The Grinch -Kyle Sjolin- The Lorax, and many many more adventurous stories written by Dr. Suess.
“I would say the best part of being in the musical was getting to learn new music/dances, but also making new friends and getting to hang out with friends I have made in previous years!” said Ruby Horsager. These multi-talented actors not only took on the task of memorizing their wacky lines, but also learning, perfecting, and performing silly dances and singing their inspiring songs, all the way from “A person is a person no matter how small” in the song Horton Hears A Who to “I’ve found magic, but they don’t see it” in Alone in the Universe. The set that these actors performed their magic on was a spectacular addition to the show, and substantially added to the imagination factor. Moreover, the costuming really brought a wow factor to the stage, with the bright colors, and the many different aspects of each character’s costume, this was another fundamental addition to the musical. Finally, the background music and sound effects present in each scene made it easier, and more enjoyable, to transition to the imaginable world of Dr. Seuss! “My favorite part about being in the musical is the experience I get with acting, over the past 4 years getting to see my friends grow around me as actors has been a very great experience! So I would say the best part about theatre is seeing my fellow cast members get more experience and grow as actors!” said Reid Jensen.
Ruby also said, “I also love performing and seeing the audience excited and engaged as to what will happen next is also always fun!” “Seussical The Musical” brought joy to many people’s faces, both young and old, as they watched their favorite childhood stories light up in front of them. This musical was not only funny, enjoyable, and entertaining, but also brought a sense of nostalgia to the stage. The presence that the talented Fargo South actors left lingering in the theatre is undeniably one of the best yet.
